About UNYRA

UNYRA is an independent Filipino girl group composed of Jenn, Jhoanna, and Mega. Based in Samar Island, the trio adds an Eastern Visayas presence to a P-Pop scene still concentrated largely in Metro Manila. UNYRA’s official Spotify profile identifies it as a three-member P-Pop group from Samar Island.

The group began appearing publicly before its formal recording debut. UNYRA performed at PAGDASIG 2026 on April 23, an appearance described by PPOP World as the trio’s first performance. In July, it released “Mensahe,” which its own promotional material called a pre-release single. The song’s official credits name Jenn Espedilla, Jhoanna Castelo, and Mega Sumbise as its writers, showing that all three members participated in developing UNYRA’s material. The official music video was released on July 26, 2026.

UNYRA followed “Mensahe” with its official debut single, “SHOUT.” Released in August 2026, the song again credits all three members as songwriters. Jhoanna also handled its choreography, while Sean Remuel Sanchez Pacaña is credited as producer in the official lyric film.

The name UNYRA has been explained in P-Pop community coverage as combining the idea of unity with lyra, the Latin word for lyre. The group’s own line, “Bound by the strings, hear the unity it brings,” reinforces that shared identity. More releases will be needed before UNYRA’s sound can be defined narrowly, but its first two songs already establish two durable parts of the group’s story: regional representation and direct member participation in songwriting.

UNITY FROM SAMAR

UNYRA’s emerging identity is closely tied to Samar Island. That regional base distinguishes the group within modern P-Pop, where many acts form and operate in Metro Manila. It also gives the trio a meaningful role in showing that idol-style Filipino pop can be developed from communities outside the capital.

The group’s name and introductory language center on unity. P-Pop community coverage has explained UNYRA as drawing from “unity” and lyra, or lyre, while its tagline connects musical strings with the bond among its members. The idea is reflected practically in its early work: Jenn, Jhoanna, and Mega share songwriting credit on both “Mensahe” and “SHOUT.”

UNYRA is still building the catalog and infrastructure needed to sustain an independent group. Its early profile should therefore be understood less through large commercial milestones and more through what has already been established: a three-member team from Samar, member-written music, clearly divided performance roles, and an effort to build a P-Pop path from Eastern Visayas.
