About KAIA

KAIA is a Filipino P-pop girl group composed of Angela, Charice, Alexa, Sophia, and Charlotte. The group first introduced itself through the pre-debut single “KAYA” in December 2021 before officially debuting on April 8, 2022, with “BLAH BLAH.” Sony Music Philippines identifies the current five-member lineup and describes KAIA as a group trained to represent Filipino pop music on a broader stage.

Known for confident performances, sharp choreography, strong live vocals, and empowering songs, KAIA has developed a musical identity that moves between dance-pop, hip-hop, R&B, bubblegum pop, Jersey club, UK garage, and more emotionally driven pop. Songs such as “Dalawa,” “5678,” “YOU DID IT,” “Walang Biruan,” and “TANGA” show the group’s growing range.

The name KAIA is inspired by the Cebuano word kinaiya, referring to a person’s inner character and individuality. It also sounds like the Filipino word kaya, representing capability, courage, and the strength to overcome challenges. These meanings reflect the group’s focus on individuality, determination, and personal growth.

KAIA has also become increasingly involved in creating its music. The members co-wrote and co-produced “Walang Biruan” with Kindred members Luis Montales and Kenneth Amores, marking an important step in their development as recording artists. Their collaboration with Zack Tabudlo on “TANGA” later challenged them to experiment with new harmonies, ad-libs, and vocal techniques.

Beyond their releases, KAIA represented the Philippines at the 2024 ASEAN-Korea ROUND Festival in Laos. In 2026, they joined HORI7ON and 1st.One for “Sulong,” the official theme song of ROUND Festival Philippines, and earned wider online attention when their live performance of “Takedown” from KPop Demon Hunters went viral.

KINAIYA – Character, Capability and Individuality

KAIA’s name represents the values at the center of the group’s identity. Derived from the Cebuano word kinaiya, the name highlights inner character and the qualities that make each member different. Its connection to kaya also expresses determination and the belief that difficult challenges can be overcome.

This idea is reflected in the group’s music. Earlier tracks such as “KAYA” and “BLAH BLAH” introduced KAIA through confidence and performance, while songs such as “Dalawa,” “Walang Biruan,” “TANGA,” and “hulog” reveal more romantic, vulnerable, and playful sides of the members.

KAIA’s growth is also visible behind the scenes. The members contributed to the composition, lyrics, vocal melodies, and production of “Walang Biruan.” The song allowed the group to use each member’s vocal strengths while developing a softer sound that remained connected to confidence and empowerment.

The group has also built a reputation for live performance. In May 2026, clips of KAIA performing “Takedown” and “YOU DID IT” at Backyard Live Spotlight gained millions of views and drew praise for the members’ live vocals, harmonies, choreography, and stage presence.
